B.LO.C. [be-low-sea] is a quiet color study beneath the surface.
Photographed underwater on 35mm film, the series intentionally embraces the unpredictability of an old world format and the ever changing dynamics and beauty of the ocean.

For over a decade I traveled the world documenting professional surfing. It wasn’t until I picked up a sixty year old waterproof film camera that I began to see the ocean differently. Not through the lens of sport, but through stillness, color and abstraction.
Working entirely by feel and instinct, each image is made by manually opening the camera’s shutter beneath the surface, letting light and color find their own rhythm. A practice that blurs photography with painting and transforms documentation into discovery.
My goal for these images is to bring the beauty and curiosity of the ocean into our spaces in a quiet, subtle way. I hope you enjoy!
